Nataly’s Corner #listeningback to one of the most beautiful ballads of music that came out of the 1970s: Of all the songs that Chic released, the song “Warm Summer Night” is, by far, my favorite. The “Risque” album was released in 1979 and produced the top single “Good Times”. Often referred to as the best disco soul band of the 70s, Chic is led by guitarist Nile Rodgers and it was he and bassist Bernard Edwards who organized the group in 1976. In addition to Rodgers and Edwards, the original members also included Norma Jean Wright and Luci Martin as vocalists and Tony Thompson on drums. In 1977, Chic released its debut self-titled album. Their follow-up album, “C’est Chic” sold 6 million worldwide and produced the hit song “Le Freak”, which reached #1 on the U.S. charts. Chic was in their “hey days” during the 1970’s but the band would struggle to maintain their popularity with the next decade bringing the disco era to a close and they disbanded in 1980. However, Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, and Tony Thompson continued working on arrangements and producing for other musicians and artists.
