Conway Twitty - "It's Only Make Believe" sung here as a very powerful duet with Canadian country music star Carroll Baker. Carroll Baker does an awesome job with this classic and Conway Twitty joining her part way thru is the icing on the cake. And Check out Carroll's comments below.

What an awesome honor, she dropped by here and shared some insights. "I am proud to have had the opportunity to tour with Conway in Canada and sing with him. He was simply the best of the best. He was a kind and gentle, generous human being." - Carroll Baker

Conway Twitty and his drummer Jack Nance wrote this song while touring across Ontario, Canada in 1958. It didn't start out a hit, it was on the 'B' side of a 45 rpm. At first the record wasn't going anywhere, then a DJ in Ohio played the 'B' side and the rest is music history, selling over 8 million copies

Conway started off as a Pop Singer. He sounded a lot, (too much?), like Elvis.

In 1958, he moved to MGM Records, where he finally achieved success with "It's Only Make Believe," a song he had written with Jack Nance.

The song is recorded with vocal support by Presley's back group, the Jordanaires.

"It's Only Make Believe" became a major hit, spending two weeks at number one and going gold.

In his authorized biography, "The Conway Twitty Story" (by Wilbur Cross and Michael Kosser, Dolphin/Doubleday & Co.), Conway Twitty says that in recording his 1958 hit, It's Only Make Believe, he consciously imitated Elvis Presley. He adds that even the record company, MGM, intentionally issued no pictures or biography of him so the public would think Twitty was a Presley alias.
