Bio:
The Rockin' Chairs were all friends from Queens Village and Long Island, New York and were basically an instrumental dance group who played at record hops. They were formed in 1955 and about three years later, at a dance, met Alan Fredericks, who liked them so much that he became their manager. Alan was a friend of the owner of Recorte Records and when the guys auditioned, they were signed on the spot . They were one of the first self contained group and wrote their own material.
Their first release was "A Kiss Is A Kiss" sold over 200,000 copies and made the top 20 on the New York Charts.

Ken Cohen added this bit of information: I thought you'd find this of interest: this review appeared in the June 22, 1959 issue of Billboard: "Memories Of Love (Recorte) An overly long intro starts this doubtful rock entry. Dean and the Rockin' Chairs do their best which in this case is none too Good.
Girl Of Mine "A pounding rocker item with all the familiar cliches. Dean hands the material an enthused reading". You know this got no airplay and that's how these records became collectible years later.
