Description
Join pilgrims from around the world on a journey to Selja, Norway’s cradle of Christianity, celebrating the feast of St. Sunniva, Norway's only recognized female saint. Sunniva’s remarkable voyage from Ireland, guided solely by her unwavering trust in God, led to her martyrdom and established Norway’s first Benedictine monastery and diocese.
In this Jubilee Year of Hope (2025), Selja has become a special pilgrimage site, chosen by Norway’s bishops, where faithful can receive plenary indulgences. This pilgrimage is especially historic, bringing together the bishops of Trondheim and Oslo on Selja Island for the first time since the monastery's destruction during the Reformation.
Listen as Bishop Frederic Hanson and newly ordained priest Fr. Mathias Ledum reflect on how St. Sunniva’s courageous example continues to inspire us today, encouraging a deeper surrender to God’s providence.
Highlights include:
The powerful story and legacy of St. Sunniva
Insights into Norway’s Catholic heritage and future
Why Selja is an essential jubilee pilgrimage site
Personal testimonies of faith and vocation
Celebrate with us and pray for the ongoing renewal of the Catholic faith in Norway.
